I just bought a Sears Platinum/Odyssey 1500 battery. Whats the proper way to charge an AGM battery for a race car w/o an alternator?

BTW, I have a Black&Decker 40A smart charger that is microprocessor controlled if it matters.

Make sure it is fully charged before heading to the track.
Charge after every round and leave the charger on it as long as you can.

Every company seems to have their own ideas, and their own charger you need to buy. Then at the same time they say their battery is fine to be hooked up to an alternator. Alternators vary from 14volts to 15volts in output, so how can thebattery be good with them, but need a specific charger? (There is no truthful answer, just in case you are wondering)

The only really important thing is that charger is not a cheap piece of junk and that it has automatic shutoff. One with AGM, wetcell, or deep cycle settings is better than not having them. But it is not do or die.

So you have a so-so (sorry) brand name charger with a processor, you should be be fine.
