i need to buy a new carburetor. i've been running a borrowed one for some time now, and need to give the owner his carb back. we've been thinking it's a bit on the small size, so i'm looking to the bullet's knowledge base for some direction.

what i have:
-370"lsx
-PRC stage 2.5 ls6 heads
-232/240 .595"/.609" 112+4
-vic jr
-th400, 9" 4500 stall, 4.11, 28x10.5
-3380lbs
-750cfm proform main bodied holley, everything else is stock holley stuff
-2" HVH super sucker
-pump gas 93

so far it's been 10.76 @ 126mph in sea level conditions. we've been thinking of going to an 850, and have been contemplating E85. i'm looking to put something on the car that are going to give me solid gains too obviously. any help appreciated.

I think you could go to a bigger carb for sure. I dont run as fast as you,.....yet, but I am not having any problems with my 850 mighty demon. It suposedly flows more than a 950hp holley

seems like logical thinking there. the reason i'm thinking about an off the shelf carb is cause i can get a good deal from summit with my gift card and credit card.

i'm going to be making some phone calls tomorrow i think.
If you're going to go that route do it one time and one time only. Get a Holley 950 HP, a jet kit, and air bleed kit.

If i were you i would purchase a hp 1000 (850 based carb) and tune it like Billy said
That carb will work well for what you have now as ls intakes tend to pull hard on a booster and have good signal
Then down the road when you go to a stroker or whatever, the carb will grow so to speak with your combo
Ive been 10.0s at 8000ft plus d/a -on motor with my hp1000,and the same carb was run on a friends car going 9.50s up here with nothing but a small jet change(2 sizes)
if you get a good carb and properly set it up it will run great and do all youll need
Remember, there are hot strre tcars going mid 8s on 4150s;)

It ran 11.0 and I can't remember the mph on motor. The converter was really tight and built for a lot more nitrous than what I was using. I only ran the car 2 runs on the motor ever.

billyman, i think you may be on to something. i've called holley and they recommend just about the same thing, 'cept an 850 ultra hp. i am choosing the new ultra for all the added features, and i made that call before talking to the holley rep. that thing is badass looking on top of that, lol!
