we use the 5/8 u bolts but haven't had any issues of bending the plates, but we are putting the rear back in the car this week so i am gonna keep an eye on that issue!

My buddies car was crushing the housing, bending the plates etc. Went to a 9" and fabricated a setup that doesn't use ubolts. Bolts directly to a plate setup on the rear.

Do you have any pics of this??
I just found that my spring perches on my 9" housing are crushed down in the rear and allowed the housing to rotate.
Have to have them replaced anyway, maybe you have a better idea.

I'll see if he will let me take some pics, I don't see why he wouldn't.
