ok . long story short . you find a so called legitamite business cunducting business selling high end product and not collecting sales tax and also you find out the so called business is not even registered in there state and more or less they are a fly by night operation.... now the questions is what do you do as a law abiding citizen ? can this be reported to there local law or ?

think about it . if you owned a legit business and paid your "dues" would you be mad ? especially if the other company was intruding on your teritory

problem with some flyby nighters, they're just that... make a little money and bounce. don't ever have a chance to do anything...

I sell Automotive Cleaning Chemicals... seems every spring they pop out of the wood work... sell some stuff for about a month... and never the same place twice... and poof goone with the wind.

trying to educate the customers works best for me.{ it may be cheep now, but it"s gonna cost TWICE as much to straighten their mess up }.. most fly by nighters here don"t make it 3 months.. then the shop/people they sold to is stuck with inferior product or something to that effect.. usually the long term shops will not do buisiness with people like this... just my 2 cents..

If they are selling across state lines and over the internet they aren't supposed to be collecting state sales taxes anyway.

AHHHH I see this all the time in our business. The internet is loaded with "Racing Communication Co.s" that probably have never installed a system in a race car at the track. They throw out some low ball price that I know they arent making squat on, so they cant possibly be paying taxes, and just to make a quick buck and go onto something else.
Our prices are very fair but when some of these guys low ball it so bad it hurts us "legitament" business that pay our taxes. Not charging State taxes is one thing, De. doesnt have sales tax, but when you dont report it to the IRS, that is a entirely different story.In the end, they are usually gone in about a year and they hurt those of us that are in it for the long haul.. Then when they are gone and that "Cheaper" system doesnt work.. they call us to fix it.:-D

nah im a heck of a nice guy and that wouldnt bother me ... after all im that guy that would run threw your yard .

but when it comes to bad business practices i get extremly pissed off . mainly becuase i run a legit business so when i see someone else selling the same product as us but not doing it legally it gets me going . i have other competators doing what we do but they are legal and have nothing against them . but like i say . when you do 50k worht of sales and dont collect sales tax on items picked up at the location being sold without an exemption form that is not right for the rest of us that do business correctly

yes i know this . but i am dealing with a big contract right now where this particular company is deciding between us and them . and they want to pick there items up . and i said if you not exempt there is sales tax . they then asked me about the other guy . thats when i started to look and ask questions becuase i know they should be collecting sales tax .



i kno i kno alot of guys are like fuck the government . but im trying to make my business grow so im doing things the correct way

thats what i want to avoid . there was another flay by night operation a few years ago that sold alot of items then disappered when things started going wrong . well guess who had to fix them and talk to the customers ? us . i guess it makes for job security.

Right there is your answer. My best friend is in the tax collecting business and they shut down shady ass people every day. Think about it , they are stealing revenue from the state which in turn causes the state to lose money and in turn the state has to raise your taxes to make up for it. Do you wish to pay more taxes so he can have free money? Do yourself and everybody in your state a favor and turn him in.

my friend when they starting hurting your business then you gotta do what you gotta do.

had the same situation not long ago, i have a liscence and the other guy did not or ever had, i lost several sales in less than a week, so when they came to check on our liscence i told the guy and i said" all i want done is for them to get legal"
they were gone in less than 7 days.
