If you had a full machine shop at your house and the know how would it be more trouble then it's worth to build your own vacuum pump

I have all that and i bought a star pump it works great.

Way too much trouble... It was bad enough making a bracket that would put the pump in a place that would work with my setup.

Where I used to work I had access to a full machine shop, I made lots of things that I could of just went out and bought, no telling how many man hours I wasted on a $10 part.
