Had a bit of a misshap at the track today Uni broke and smashed under side of my car to bits. Car has 2 piece tailshaft and a factory front loop that caught it, but it was flopping all over the place
Got car home and on the hoist.

For some reason i cant get the yoke out the back of the th400.
I have even given it a light tap with a soft face hammer but it only moves in and out 10mm or so.
I cant see any damage to the extension housing.
With car in neutral i can get yoke and turn one way by hand but not the other.

Anyone have any idea what happend and how i can get the yoke out?
I am worried that it may have push all the way in, bottom out in the trans when it broke or maybe twisted the splines in there. Thats why it wont come out?

Tailhousing is broken?

Driveshaft broke or U joint came apart?

Output shafts don't take much to bend if the tail broke.

knock the rear seal out and maybe 🤔 you can use a bore scope to see the splines?🤔. Bottom line it’s got to come apart!

I would modify the yoke to accept a two jaw puller, then drill hole in yoke plug. Pull it off
Wrap a chain around the yoke... Use a slide hammer?

If splines on the shaft are jacked up or bent , transmission needs to come out any way. Good luck
Hutch this is how this model of car tailshaft should look.
Picture will probably tell 1000 words as they say

Chain around yoke with slide hammer is a good idea.
Some one else said to heat the yoke up also before trying to tap it off

Most people call the output shaft in the trans the Tailshaft. You are showing us the driveshaft or sometimes people call it the Propshaft.
‘I would take my big airchiesel with a short flat hammer bit and try to move it.

Mi 5.0 fred im not in usa
So just difrent wording terminology say.
Lots in translation lol
Try unbolting the tailhousing and taking it all off in one shot. Then you’ll know if the yoke is wedged up into the tailhousing, or if the output shaft is bent.

Yeah larryo were you there?
18degsbcregal i was thinking of doing that and using my inspection camera to have a look
I'd bet the splines are twisted. On my AOD I twisted the splines with a Spicer, then a Strange "billet" yoke before finally buying a Mark Williams unit that has held up for 13 years. When they twisted I never knew until it was time to remove the driveshaft. After I unbolted the driveshaft at the rear, I couldn't get the driveshaft to move forward to take it out. I had to unbolt the rear end from the chassis and move it back enough to pull the driveshaft.

I suspect your splines were twisted awhile ago and you never knew. When the driveshaft broke it forced the yoke forward enough to really jam it up.
Topfun99 that could have happend to me. But im only around 650hp at the engine suprise it could do that to the yoke with such little power and only on a small 255 60 15 tyre
