Is it really worth changing to a pro brake in a glide if one wants to try some headsup index racing. What is the average difference in release time?

Try hitting the pro tree first with your bracket brake. You may be fast enough on the tree to keep what you have. Most "pro tree" brakes are .01-.02 faster than the typical bracket brake.
