I am putting together a sbc with a BDS 8-71 and want to know what oil you guys are using in the blower. It says a non detergent heavy duty gear oil? I can't seem to find any. So what are you using?

Castrol Hypoy C gear oil. got it at Pep Boys

Brad Penn now sells a oil specifically for this.

Although I have always used plain old 85-90w gear oil.

Thanks guys, I was looking for a label on the gear oil that said non detergent. I could not find any. LOL

synthetic 2 stroke oil !!!!

Put 60wt or 70wt brad penn oil in it! Works great.

What type of oil should I run in my supercharger?
You should run a High Quality 80w/90 gear oil with a GL-5 rating. Synthetic oil or Synthetic blends are OK to use.

My new BDS has a tag that says "Do Not Use Synthetic Oil" wonder why? I like synthetic in everything..

That's what we run. Our old 871 was 36% over and we turned the motor a little over 10k. - If the oil wasn't adequate we'd have known I'm sure, lol.
