Pardon me for my bias ply tire ignorance, but my experience with them is mostly as slicks. I'm trying to make my Nova look more period correct, so I bought a pair of US Royal 670-15 repops from Coker for the front. They're supposed to be 27.50" tall

I measured the circumference unmounted, and they're 89" or 28.33" diameter! That would work well on a truck or a Biscayne or maybe a Chevelle, but it's too big for a Nova. So I got myself a pair of 640-15 Silvertowns, which are supposed to be 26.88" diam.

I stood them up right next to one of the US Royals, and there's no way they're 1.45" shorter. When you mount and inflate a narrow bias ply tire like these, does the OD decrease as the sidewalls bulge out?
