I WANT TO MAKE EVERYONE AWARE OF INDY! Their customer service is lacking. I have had two different problems with them and ended up with the same results. The customer is left hold the bad goods. In July I order a rotating assembly and a set of Elderbrock Heads from Indy. Before the Motor was ever started we discovered one of the heads had a bad casting and allowed water to run in the motor on the Number 7 intake. They refuse to send me a new one. ( Motor never started) They did fix this one. After about fifty passes on the motor we decided to change intakes. While changing the intake we discovered a valve keeper in the valley. After further inspection the heads had more keepers broke and about to let lose on the valves. Luckly we caught it before it ate the motor. The vavle springs tested bad. ( 90 Ilbs @ the seat & 240-250 open) We have a solid lift cam 557 lift and shift @ 5,800- 6,000. Indy said the springs need to be replaced and and said it was the cam I'm running.
Head are rated from Indy up to 600 lift. Buy with caution! I have gave them the chance to make this right with no luck. Thanks to Royce Thomason our heads for being done right. Have talked to them and sent two e-mail with no response. Talked to Jim and Russ at Indy with no results! Jim stated that I should of told him if I wanted my heads fixed?? Hey Jim that is what the phone calls and e-mails were about!

I know nothing about dodge stuff. I only want to add, that I have 3 dodge guys I hang with.
All 3 stopped using them several years ago. They had the big rep for being one of the best, especially dodge stuff.
If you ask them, all 3 will tell you way overrated. The stuff might be good when it's right.
But they treated them like crap & did not stand behind what they sold.
All three had fairly small problems & they gave them such a hard time & run around. They all ate the money & never went back.

I know guys swear by them, but I know 3 guys that don't.

Indy made stuff for Dodges when no one would make anything for them... that said, they have long ago abandoned customer service or found the time to do things properly... they just want your money and then viola ... :(

I have used a few of there products for the LA engines. I have always had good luck, however, they are not the most friendly group of people. They are lacking in customer service! IMO!

I agree on some points but your machine shop should inspect and test everything before the heads are installed. even if you install them a simple trip to the shop for a p test vacuum check and installed spring hieght and thorough cleaning will give you peace of mind and pinpoint problems before they happen. obvoisly it shouldnt have happend but all performance companys deal with manufacturing issues like this. I would always upgrade valve train components on assembled cylinder heads also because the retianers and keepers and springs are usually junk no matter what they claim there good for and that can be a very costly failure as you almost encountered.

I went through TWO sets of Indy 572-13 CNC heads done by Indy, BOTH sets had more problems then I even want to list! Russ Flagle NEVER did a single thing about any of the problems on either set, one set was a replacement for the first set that failed with no more then dyno time, the second set failed and started leaking water on the dyno too!

The only reason the first set was replaced was because an Indy dealer stepped in and sent me a set, but then Indy PHUCKED the dealer in the end, so even Indy dealers are not safe...

I wouldn't piss on Russ Flagle's head if it was on fire, he is the biggest asshole I have ever met in the industry, but someone came to me who worked for him not too long back, he lowered my feelings of Russ to a whole nother level, the things he told me about Russ while working for him made my jaw drop!! I won't get into details cause I don't want to give anyone any idea who it was, but I will say it was someone who has been in the industry for many years, and he had never seen anything like it before..

Indy is the worst company I have ever had dealings with hands down, no questions asked.

Two of the guys that used to work for them back years ago no longer do and have their own shop and that shop has left a bad taste in a lot of people mouth..... the work is great..... just customer service and the addiude with most people.

You would think that in race country there would be a lot of good shops....... nope....... I am not to far from Indy Cylinder Head....

Another guy "Mike Duke" used to be their head porter back when that shop was the rage and now has his own shop and he does killer work, he is still here in town and has my heads.

Friend of mine used to run a Mopar wedge, bought an Indy block it leaked water into the pan from the base of the #7 cyl I think, then it also leaked oil from an oil galley into the coolant!!!

Indy said that it "looks like the motor had been run really hard" yeah sure alky motor single four barrel no nitrous.

I never really understood what running hard had to do with casting pourosity but I guess that's why I could never be in the PR department of a manufacturer.

If you want Indy components then go to an engine builder who is a dealer for Indy. He then becomes your warranty card! I am glad I did......and have been happy since. I have heard all the horror stories also when sourcing components.

Well that is definately a good solution if you don't mind doing what we did spending the time to get a high dollar motor built making two runs finding a coolant leak, pulling the motor tearing it down, sending it back to indy waiting to get it fixed, putting it back together, putting it back in the car, making another few passes, find the oil in the coolant, take the motor back out, tear it down, send it to indy, put it back together, sell the piece of shit and hope that the next owner get to make more than a dozen passes in two seasons.

If thats your idea of a good time then by all means use their shit cause the builder and yourself immense pain and enjoy it!

My freind now has a JP1 with a 14/71 etc and at 2000 hp that thing makes more passes per teardown than the indy shit at 1050!

Had customer bring in a set of INDY 360-1 heads in so i can cc the chambers,as i finished pouring liquid in i noticed i was loosing liquid. After close examination there was a hairline crack from the intake seat into the bowl 1 inch long! luckily i picked that port, got them pressure tested it was pissing out like a hose. They were brand new never bolted to a block, the owner was on holidays in the USA and gave Russ a visit, just put it this way he had Russ by the throat for fucking him around for 6months. he got an upgraded set of heads and Russ paid for someone else to port them. You just cannot FUCK racers like this, especially this guy.Russ was very lucky ! and this guy was from the other side of the planet.;)
