Why do you feel the need for Kolene steels?

Personally I do not like Kolene Steels, enless the black coating is sanded off, or tumbled off, or glass beaded off, the black coating rubs off onto the clutches filling the clutch pores. I use the stock steels, the work just fine. Burt :peeing Kolene Steels

Marketing has been effective; like on the billet parts, wider bushings, additional bushings for more support, wide bands

I'm building a TH400 right now and have a stack of Kolene steels and red clutches on the bench ready to go in. I bought a direct drum from Jake with the clutches and steels in it so I'm left with the forward and intermediate.
Will I have a problem. 600 HP, occasional Trans brake use?

Can I put the Kolene steels in the sand blaster and just take the coating off?

Any problem with the red clutches?

Thanks

I would sand them or bead blast them or if you have access to a tumbler. Burt

Just sand them with scotchbrite, take the looser black coating off them.
I think kolene's and alto red's are great parts, would not use anything else.
