Going to replace the broken case on my OEM powerglide and wondering what to be looking for / or avoid.

Thanks!

Thanks guys. My new trans is a ATI super case, just want to repair this one for a spare or use in another project. Pulled it down and clutches, band pump etc are all in perfect shape. Case, planetary/output shaft, valve body, and oil pan are all broken from the explosion.

I broke a U joint on launch and when 2 yokes hit driveline hit bottom of loop and forced back of trans down breaking the case, and output shaft. It broke the case just infront of rear pan rail and broke a coroner off the vb. looks like a stock vb maybe I could modify one with the pieces from old tci vb/brake?

Have a real good look at the pump and be sure the input shaft didn't damage the inside of the tube. It may all be scrap when you look at it really close.

With all that damage I would be tended to use it for a boat anchor.
