On a dyno with a 32 jet my 588 make peak power at 7400. That is with out of the box 355 dart heads and a cam that is not radical.

This is our first time out with the 582 in the 2002 Camaro...we previously ran it in the 71 Camaro, which is almost 1000# heavier. The engine & tranny combo seem to like it shifted at about 7400.

My 540 with a a big pill was still climbing at 8500, but I can't bring myself to shift there on purpose. However a few times when the elec shifter didn't work it has seen that rpm. Lol. I've been shifting it at 7500 for 2 years now.

peak hp is 7400 rpm I shift at 7600 rpm. This is a 4.25 stroke 555. I bet the average hp is a lot better from say 6500-7500rpm than 6000-7000rpm even on the jug.

Nitrous makes such a flat torque curve, there doesn't seem to be any big gains running them way up on the shift. A g-meter will tell you if you are going too high or too low (that was for you Fofo)

if u know where u peak at in your rpm range(when spraying it will be lower rpm typically than when n/a), try shifting at your peak hp. then try a few hundred higher and keep experimenting on same day at track til u slow down
