I was looking at some different BBC heads and came across these. Has anyone used these on recent projects and what kind of results. I was trying to compare them to similar sized heads but can't find any flow numbers or engine build ups to use as references. Any input would be appreciated.:smt102

I have flowed the 339 Elite heads and they are very good. They flow 390 at appx. .700 lift with a 2.25 valve. I think you would love them if you tried them. I am a dealer if interested.

Anybody have any further data/info/experience with these in the last 3 years?
On the surface, they might be a reasonably priced small bore 468/496 head.

I really like that head.we did a 4.500x4.00 in a dragster.put 2.300 valve and no wild porting.never dyno but guy runs 4.70s.did him 4.500 x 4.375 .2.300 valve and opened ports and put tunnel ram with hat.that engine was shelving part engine and e85.did 950 &768 ft lbs.not a high rpm engine and he has put 200 runs on it.I think best run is 4.59 with it.very happy with those heads.

1800 lb dragster, 496 Mark IV, S/C and bracket setup. Looking to spin it 7500 at the stripe. Finally working on getting back out there.
Imo you could make better power with 320-325 head if you only looking at 7500 rpm.scott foxwell was showing me canfield oval he was doing that would be great head on 496.brodix has nice oval too.I like dart 325 on 496.engine I did made peak at 7850ish tho.just throwing examples out.sounds good.hope you get out soon.rhs head would be nice to build bigger engine in future.nice head not trying to pull you away from them.

At this point, anything is better than the 20 yr old iron Merlins I have. Thank you for the input. Wish I could afford a better block for a bigger bore, but got to use what I got. Not afraid of higher rpm or putting an 8K high side chip in it. My old team mate used to spin his 540 to 7800 for 300 passes before rebuilds.

Send foxwell a pm.I'm sure he show you pics of oval ports.just weight in head difference be a gain.

Big difference between a 468 and 496 but I agree with Vin...it's a little much for even a 7500 rpm 496. If you do go the way of the RHS, make sure the valve job is inspected closely. Had some real trouble with several sets of RHS big blocks in that area.

I do not think that RHS 339 head is too much for a 496. It would be perfect. Cam it right and it will be a beast at 7500.
If I was launching at 7500 I would agree .that's how a 496 would be if a built it.but if it has to work at 5000-5500-6000 etc I wouldn't want this head at all.jmo

How would they work on a 13:1 565 with a 850 lift cam?
Friend of mine has 14 to 1 -565.he wants to learn porting.I have a set of 339 that we will put alloy seats and 2.300 valve.his goal is 965 hp.we did him a sniper manifold last year.I will make him a template left and right port and let him grind away.hope to make power 7800-7900 area.I will prob start on it tues.
