Just wondering what the prefered battery is...12V? I'm building a new Harry Clack Comp Eliminator 232" 18* sbc dragster...converted to running brackets and quick 8...I just can't see sticking a 50lb battery in this thing. HAs anyone used any of the Braille batteries? Any thoughts on this? I need something to spin a 15.1:1 small block, and also run NOS, fuel, water, fan, electric vac pump, etc...always used a standard lead acid battery...just looking to save a little weight.

All I have had is bad experiences with the small batteries. I am turning a much smaller motor, 150ci and a little over 16:1 and it sucks the life out of those batteries. They drop to 9V on startup then 10V while running down the track. It robbed quite a bit of power because it wasn't enough voltage for the ignition. I am also only running ignition and a fuel pump.

Go with the 16V and never worry about voltage.

If you are not running an alternator I would definitely go 16volt.
