Does anyone know of a good way to deform a header tube for more clearance? We all have seen someone take a ball peen hammer and beat header tubes ugly. I have some aluminized headers and I just need a little more clearance in a couple spots. I was thinking about machining a couple aluminum blocks to put in a press or vise to form like a smooth dent in the header tubes. Any ideas?

If you're careful, a body hammer works well. Run it till it's pretty warm and then tap slowly on them to get what you need. Propane torch works too but watch the heat.

I made a couple adjustments to mine, a little heat then pressed a socket into it. Looks good.

Two peices of plate and a c-clamp works really well.I have done this a few times and had good results.
