So I have a 2000 mazda miata that was auto trans and I just swapped a 5 speed into the car. All I have left to do is the electrical. I have swapped the auto ecu for a manual ecu. The key turns on the ignition but no power to the starter. I tried bypassing the whole ignition/key setup (by unplugging the wire harness and manually connecting wires ) but the starter still won't turn. So the switch for starting the car in park ( from the auto) must be between the ignition and starter. Can I just run another wire to the starter and have a push button starter? I don't car if the trans is giving me speed the car is just gunna be used as an autocross car. I went to miata.net and this has been done alot in the NA but not so much in the NB so I didn't get much info. Thanks, Chuck

Push button will work. Only issue is that you no longer have a safety mechinism that makes sure you are in nuetral or park before you start the car.
