Has anyone else noticed that the canned carburetor cleaner like Gum Out and all the off brand names has changed for the worse? Seems like now it evaporates before you can even put a brush to it to loosen up caked on residue. Does not seem to do the job it used to.
Also anyone know what the best 5 gallon pail carb cleaner with strainer pan inside is these days? The Berryman one gallon parts cleaners are getting expensive and don't do as good of job as used to. I have a 10 gallon ultrasonic cleaner, but still like to get the heavy crude off before putting in the ultrasonic.
Funny you mention this. Last night I was spraying an earwig nest with Berryman's. It used to kill the little critters almost immediately. Now it doesn't. My first thought was, something changed in the way it's made.
Just more shit the EPA is doing, keeping you from killing Mother Earth supposedly. If you have purchased any paint stripper lately, you know that it takes about 3 times the amount of the stuff to do the same job that the old stuff used to do. How that is helping anything is beyond me.
And on top of that just so everyone knows, the EPA killed off the antiseptic that was put in the wash that is used to scrub down operating rooms in every hospital in this country. That happened years ago and is the one major reason that MRSA is killing people left and right after they "survive" the operation. They like to term it, "complications of the surgery". My wife had back surgery a few years ago and that damned crap got into her spinal column. Within 24-30 hours of the operation I was being asked if I would like to have a Priest come and give my wife the last rites - they had concluded that she was going to die. I finally got the surgeon to agree to open her up again and flush the hell out of the wound, she was in the hospital for another 5 days after that on some crazy ass antibiotics, then we had a home nurse treating her wound for about 3 months after that. THE EPA can go FUCK THEMSELVES!
was there not a law suit a few years ago about some young guy dying after using paint stripper do to some ingredient that was in it? I think after that all manufactures removed that ingredient / chemical from strippers sold in the USA. I think that ingredient / /chemical is still in stripper that is sold in other countries. If I was to guess that is why stripper does not work as well as it use to.
Zep Carb X. $175 for 4 one gallon containers on line. The other Zep products I have use all work as advertised. But only see them locally at Menards. Any national chains that i might be able to drive to to buy some Carb X? I am in central Illinois.
Thanks. Bump for where to buy locally Zep Carb X or Berryman B12. Don't see either on the Parts store shelves.here in central Illinois or Indiana. Not at Napa, Car Quest, O Reilly, or Auto Zone. Only see 1 gallon pail of Berryman at Rural King.
Gum Out is not what it used to be. Dries before you can even put a brush to it to do any work.
it changed for the worse back in the 90's. New stuff is CRAP.
