In the middle of putting together a bbc 540 f3r 139 injected alcohol motor and to save some cash for now iam going to stay with the set of BB-2x that i have. Iam going to have to upgrade the springs and valves but was wondering if need to upgrade to shafts or will a good set of rockers with a girdle be good enough. This motor is going in a 10.5 car but iam not looking (for now) to set the world on fire just get me to the bottom half of 7's in the 1/4.

Don't take this the wrong way, but if you are planning to run the bottom half of the 7's, and your budget won't allow you to buy a shaft setup, you should re-evaluate these plans. The maintenance and upkeep on a vehicle of this calibre is extensive and expensive! Don't get me wrong, it can probably be done, but it is still going to take a big budget to run your program.

Your know your right, i have been preaching do it once. Shaft rockers are not going to break the bank and at the end of the day i will have a more confidence that wont fail. Now saying that How much of an upgrade would changing to dart 360 or BMF's be. Iam going to stay coventional since i do have a brand new set of headers already made for the car. I suppose saving some money not changing heads is better than cutting corners on suspect componets. Well thanks for the refocus, time to remake the parts list and get back at it.
