Hi all,

Doing some research for AOD/AODE/4R70W transmission builders who are very good at building an AOD/AODE/4R70W.Can anyone recommend someone they have used or know of very good reputable shops that build them.

I live in Australia and have a Performance Automatic http://www.performanceautomatic.com/ destributor but alot of mixed feedback and not sure about them.

I have also come by this website http://www.atfbilletparts.com/ but not much feedback around to read.

I have read alot good feedback from the 3 bellow to transmission builders

http://www.fbperformance.com/default.asp

http://www.silverfoxtrans.com/silverfoxtrans.com/Home.html

http://www.hughesperformance.com/index.php

Anyone with good expeirence with above builders or any other please post ur feedback.

Thanks to all in advance

I've dealt with silverfox on vb mods, you didn't mention Lentech, but I've a lot of his stuff. might be a bit overpriced. I'd definitely deal with silverfox if starting from scratch.

Yes i missed Lentech and they do have good feedback on there products but do cost abit more than other shops.

I need something that will handle upto 700hp flywheel and id like to have lockup converter for highway driving and mainly be used as a street car but will head to the track once a month.

bad news travels faster than good news, especially in the trans biz. remember, people will tell you what they want you to hear and their side of every story.

If you want a AOD style transmission with lockup you need to start with a AODE/4r70w. What type of engine is going in front of this transmission ?

you could stay with lockup at that power level. Go to that clickclick site and do some reading of the 'stickies' that Dan posted, there is a lot of good tech info on how to make an AOD live. http://www.clickclickracing.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?12-General-Click-Click-Tech

Dan (or Collinsautomotive above maybe?) could send you all the parts you would need and have a local guy in Oz do the work...or you if you're capable.

Keep us posted on your progress.

you have good reason to keep it all Ford. 4R's are considered one of the strongest, best OD trannies...and in the right hands are more than capable of what you need to do.

Contact Dan from SilverFox...he'll hook you up.

Yeh dude all Ford and the whole 3 speed with OD and lock up converter is starting to catch on here in Australia and they have to provide something, but unfortunatly they will have to get AOD/AODE/4R70W cores from the US to build here. Reason for this is we didnt have any production car that had them from factory.

We have a T700 which is a GM trans and i think u guyz call it 700R4 if its the same box but not sure and also have the 480LE

You guys say 'dude' in Oz? I thought we only did that in FL and CA? :p

Don't do a GM tranny, the Ford AODs were literally made for your motor.
