I was wondering if anyone else runs a 26 x 8.5 tire outlaw class. We run in one series around S. IN, OH, etc. Was just wondering if there were any others out there, what kind of times they are running and the type of car count.

Thanks

Couple tracks run it around here, all 1/8 mile, quickest car I have actually seen is 5.67 in the 1/8. Most cars run in the 5.70-6.00 range around here, its some fun racing.

Car count has been light, but I think it will pick up some if they keep doing it and tweak the rules some. On track lets 12.5x28 ET streets or smaller and 275 drag radials run in the 8.5 class. Ran it for the first time last Saturday and 12 cars showed up and it was some good racing. Fastest car was 5.76 and the rest were 5.80-6.40. I used 11.5x28 QTPs and ended up winning with mid 5.90s, I would say 6 cars were on 8.5s and the rest on various other DOT tires so it was a good way to get the car count up. I'm sure if they keep it up it will go to 8.5 tires only, especially if someone comes in with a fast car on 275 DRs.

Either way its some fun racing, here is the video from Saturday, the 5.50 and 5.30 cars are from the 10.5 slick class:

CRAIG WATSON IS ONE OF THE FASTEST I HAVE SEEN ON A TRUE 8.5 TIRE. I THINK HE HAS GONE SOME LOW 5.60'S AT 127MPH. ALOT OF US USED TO RUN UP AT US 60 RACEWAY. I DO KNOW THAT THEY ARE RUNNING SOME EVENTS AT I-40 DRAGWAY IN CROSSVILLE, TN. THE NORM IN THE CLASS IS 5.60-6.00 RANGE. PRETTY DAMN FAST ON A 26-8.5-15 SLICK!!!!!!

You think you could get that tire in the 1.29 - 1.30 range?

The class I am going to run has to run a 28/11.5 or smaller et street / qtp
I think I could, I have the car set up really stiff in front to keep it off the bumper. Plus I'm at 55/45 F/R on weight. If I put 5% more on the rear and went to 275lb front springs instead of 300s and took the limiters off the front I bet I could get into the 1.2s, Naturally 60's times vary with different tracks, London Kentucky is about in the middle on 60 foots times around here.

I think the 11.5 QTP is a better tire than the 11.5x28 street in my experience, but the QTP is also taller and wider. Its way closer to a 12.5x28 ET Street in size.

I noticed that about the QTP.. I am looking at putting on the 27/11.5 or maybe even the 27/10.5.
my weight will vary from 3200lbs to 2800lbs depending on the race.

Congrats on your win Kevin. I left after the semis. It was nice to meet you. You've got a bad T/A!

I've been 1.29 on the 8.5s. Fastest pass ever is [email protected] last fall at the Oct. OSCA race. This year, I've been [email protected] at the Bounty Race at I-40.

I had some electrical troubles Saturday at London. Hopefully I'll get the problem figured out before the next race.
