I bought a car that has ALOT of $$$ in it. 408 SBC, full susp front to back, team G intake, 875 carb, etc.. I was told the heads were dart heads and I looked and looked for a part # before I bought the car.. Well come to find out there pro comp 210cc heads. I just sold a race car that I built a BBF with ported Pro comp heads and had real good luck on. that motor car ran VERY well... I have read a bunch of stuff saying the SBC pro comp heads are pretty damn good and the casting is alot better then the ford heads... I guess my question is if anyone has had any luck with them and maybe some times/combos...

From everything I've read...(you know how that is sometimes) those heads make decent power, but the problem is a crappy casting. Heard a few people on here talk about them cracking pretty easily....

I don't use their stuff or Summit brand either, but i'm sure they will get better with time. I went to procomps website and holy shit they are even making piston rings now. Before long they will be a force in the industry.

the small block castings are good castings, just the components suck, I have met a few circle track guys out here that have their old castings and the new ones, they all order them bare and run good components and have had real good luck from what they told me.

bottom line is and always has been you get what you pay for, buy junk, get junk! hell it isn't rocket science. Ask some of the fastest guys in the country if they run pro-comps and see what kind of response you get. Save your pennies and buy a name brand cylinder head that you will get some longevity out of. pro-comps are pressure cast as apposed to sand cast hence the reason they are less porous than sand cast heads, they will tell you that pressure cast heads are stronger which if that were true wouldnt all cylinder head manufacturing lean towards that method?

Wow. I have only herd of them cracking. Was your valve train geometry off!
i'm not sure, i had it dynoed when it was running rough and it had a miss all the way through the pull. i sent the heads to my local machine shop told em to go through it and call me with the results. they tell me what all is wrong and could only get valve guides from one place in cali, cause they use the biggest guides out of any other head.

and the heads are cut wierd, i got ford racing valve covers and when i bolted them up i noticed the springs were hitting the side of the valve cover and that there was a slight gap towards the top of the valve cover and head. so i pulled the valve covers off and opened up the holes to were i could pull the cover down to fix that problem. got prolly 10k miles on em with no problem. but if i had it to do over again i would have never bought them.

Of course they work good, they stole a proven design.
Not all thieves are stupid, and the smart thieves steal quality products.
Then make them with cheap foreign crap material and damn near slave labor.
Stick them in a box, ship over here and sell to idiots that don't give a damn about anything or anyone but themselves.
The way they got the design, make the product, and scam away with the money,
should make anyone with 1/2 a brain run far far away from any of the cheap foreign crap.

Don't make the same mistake most of us made years ago.
