pin on "stock" sized sunnoco here. I'm lame and still need the wipers, it was a big weight saving the front end was like 1inch taller after I put a bunch of info on it in my build thread on LS1trad. weighted 12.8 or 14.8? Stock was 45-48, plus 12-15 for the hinges, stuts, latch and that middle support metal.

And cut the side lip off the hood, if you go long to the windsheild cut the ears off that go behind the mirrors, and make them separate. they fit like shit on the hood, and flimsy there. (tips form robbie "promod1955")

also galssstech makes the same style, some said it was nicer. But mine vfn fits really good, and I got it used

Yeah VFN hoods look awesome! Plus there a good way of taking some weight out of these heavy pigs. I will be getting one soon, just can't make my mind up on which one.

My new Sunoco hood just showed up this afternoon. Im going to try to get the car down to paint within the next couple of weeks.

Just order me one. A sunoco wide pin on. Guess I going to order the racecraft rails but damn there expensive. Guess just like everything else.

The racecraft rails are the way to go... They really arent that expensive when you figure in the cost to make brackets to pin the hood down right.

My hood was done by Ron Rhodes (Rhodes Custom Auto), he made these nice aluminum corner pieces, and cut glass ears on the hood off..

Then he used these 1/4 turn fasteners

There also alot more durable then I expected. I blew mine off on a 9.75 pass and we figure it went about 40' in the air and it came out with only minor cracking.

Super clean, and very nice pieces... BUT the hood aint gonna come off very fast if there is a fire... I invested in a fixed fire bottle system for that reason.

I like they way the corners were cut off. I have to disagree about the racecraft rails being worth it. My last hood I made my own rails in about 3 hours and had no problems with them ever, I just sold them with the hood. It took me probably 4-6 hrs to put on the racecraft rails. They look nice but IMO they are a pain in the ass to install.

That looks really good with the corner pieces. Thats the only thing I dont like about my hood (firebird hood) is those corner pieces. I didnt mount or paint it yet. I have spoke with Ron at Cecil many times, great guy. I wonder if I cut mine and send him the peices if he would make me some aluminum corners? I will have to give him a call tomorrow. How are they held down? Thanks

Theyre bolted in along the inside lip of the fender -fenders gotta come off to mount um.
