check your email jimmy..We actually put that picture in the front page before we knew the willy's is heading to the mideast!..a guy from the UAE has bought it, it will be mostly raced in Bahrain though. Can't wait to see it in person!, hope he doesn;t change the color of the car..
Monty and I are gonna come over in Jan or Feb......but he thinks its not safe  .....Well he thinks there's no Bar's in Bahrain....I told him you'd hook us up :-D
Hadi
You might wanna be very careful with both Jimmy and His Royal Internet Highness Mikho together in the mideast!
I looked thru the photos on the website and am curious as to why there doesn't appear to be any go-fast blown cars.
Nitrous seems to be the power adder of choice.
I know where this is at least one that has shown the ability to go door handle to door handle with the above mentioned Willys.

Or maybe they don't? Lets see Milan was at 4100ft density altitude, 105 degrees at one point, nitrous car goes 6.59! Blown car only goes 6.61! Think there is that much difference? I will agree that the nitrous cars are at a distinct advantage in those extreme heat ranges, but is it really 120 degrees after sundown when a lot of these photos appear to be taken.
These are serious questions about the temps, nothing more. They need a bad ass blown car to represent the differences! Not that I would wanna hijack Jimmy's thread or anything... Chuckle-guff-guff!

I don't really think the heat is a big problem it's more the humidity and moisture content of the air that gives a nitrous car any advantage. I would guess that this area of the world being in a desert climate may have a very dry heat with little humidity.
Jimmy and Monty, Bahrain is very safe, you don;t need to worry about anything, there are lots of bars and alcohol so you wouldn;t need to worry about that either
About blown cars, this was the 1st season we;ve had drag races on the new track and most guys here prefer going the nitrous route coz its easier (tuning, etc) and more cost effective..the only serious turbo car we had last time was this nissan truck.. http://www.bahrainracing.com/drag/19may2005/photos/photo75.jpg
its a twin turbo 632ci chevy BB from the uae ( I can;t seem to find pics of the engine :?)
The weather is really not an issue, we race at night and not in the heat of the summer..we;ve got some pretty fast turbo powered imports and they are doing great..
I know a turbo car is on its way and a few other are currently being put together here, so we'll see a number of serious blown cars next race. We'll have a few others from different countries as well..
you bet the Willy's or any other car will get some serious competition here in the next races..should be very interesting, cant wait :-D
Yeah I got an update from pops about the place. He said it was safe as it is mostly tourist from Europe and the US. He said it was a beautiful place.. He wants to come too..
if you're on the east coast it would be a total of about 14 hours, Gulf Air used to have direct flights from NY to Bahrain daily (14hr flight non stop), now you'll most likely have to go through london or some other european country depending on airline..
