For anyone familiar with apps such as appbrain this is the same thing, but it's the official online android market site. It was just released not to long ago today, but the only issue is the stupid log-in does not work...good job google!

Well if it ends up functioning anything like appbrain it will let you browse all apps from your computer and then install it directly from the website. When you then go to your phone that app will now be in your install list and you just simply hit install. It's basically a way to keep all your apps synced up between phone and computer and is easy for backups.

Any advantage to using this over the market app on my phone?

I've been on it all morning. So far, I have had no issue installing a lot of different apps. No errors, and it was already tied to my Google Account Login.
