a beautiful East Texas morning, cool, crisp, it causes me to yearn for a drag race.

The sights and sounds or early morning race car checking. Someone is bumping a starter for valve checking. Someone is swapping tires. Scooters are making early visitation rounds. Drivers are talking with each other about changes from the day before. Track workers are busy, VHT is in the air.

Coffee and grilled breakfast wafting through the pits. A few drivers are doing their warm-up return road tour. While the kids are still in bed, Dad is readying the Jr. popper for a days duty.

Music that is too loud and too fast begins over the P A
(It seems to me that since many racers are, eerr, mature
the early morning PA music should be soft and calm) But it's OK, I am glad to be here.

PA announcements begin about the days schedule, the pit pace steps up a notch or two. The call goes out for first round and the pits become alive with movement.

Man O Man, what a beautiful vision!

to the tune of Johnny Cash "Sunday Morning Coming Down",

"well I woke up Sunday Morning, with time slips from last night beside my bed

That red light from my last time trail still frettin, some where in my head

But I brew a pot of coffee and next door I hear my neighbor working, he's swapping tires and laughing cause he doing what he loves the most to.

At a Sunday morning drag race, man it's great to just be here

Cause there is something at a drag strip that helps a man to be alive."

(this will be y'all started"
