I have a jeep srt 8 twin turbo project on the lift right now and just wondering if I would have better boost control with the wastegates mounted closer to the manifolds or closer to the turbos ?? The turbos are mounted just inside the front bumper with approx. 4.5' of tubing between the manifold and the exhaust housing..
where they can be mounted so exhaust gas hits the valve face head on will be the best location. Do a search on wastegate placement and read thru the topics with pics..
You guys may have miss understood my ? Making the gate priority is not the question... Just whether to put the gate closer to the manifold or closer to the turbo as there would be about 4' of tubing between them...
What we are saying is that as long as the gate has priority, its going to work as the pressure will be the same no matter where in the pipe feeding the turbo, IE backpressure. However with that being said.... if you bleed boost right near the exhaust manifolds, it might add some lag if it was ever "pedalled" as it has to refill/charge the run of pipe leading to the turbo, if that makes sense. Atleast thats my thought process.
Thats kinda the way I was thinkin at first but because the pressure in the pipe changes and ia not constant that it needs to be closer to the turbo to help the gate from "searching" for the target boost... Thanx guys ... Helos to kniw I was thinkin un the right direction....lol
