As I understand it, the mileage on those trucks is heinous compared to the old 6.0 liter. The fleet salesman at my local Ford dealer said they are getting 12mpg in the 4x4 trucks. Thats just unacceptable.

12.5 empty running 85-90. Gets better if you slow down. Our other guy that runs a little slower 14-15 at about 65.

Me towing, usually a decent load 8.5 - 9.5 running 80-85


My old 6.0 got 9.5 mpg running 85-88 mph with a 38' gooseneck trailer on a 3200 mile trip through the Rocky's and back

I have two in a fleet for one of my customers. 4x2 f-350 loaded with a 40ft trailer and 20 porta-pottys gets about 9. F-450 4x2 same load 6.4mpg toilets are about 200lbs a piece. p.m.'s are the easiest I have done and the only thing I will ever do on one of these.

If mileage is the objective, the 2004ish Cummins trucks are the winner hands down. Only problem is that they come wrapped in a shitty ol' Dodge truck :Sheep

Yeah it's funny Ford Owns Cummins. And they won't even put them in there own trucks.

My 6.0 I had got 16 city 24 highway. And 11 Towing a 26ft Trailer All around the tri-state are from NJ.

Friend has A 08 F350 SINGLE TIRE'S WITH 3:73's 6.4 is Ridiculous power but mileage sucks. he gets 7.5 mpg city and 11 highway. He is ashamed to tell me towing..LOL

Get a tuner from Spartan. They just came out with the 275HP version. The 250HP version is already proven.

You must get rid of the CAT and DPF for any mileage increases. guys with duallies that done the Spartan tune, are getting +20mpg.

SCT also makes a tuner for the 6.4. SCT and Spartan are the only ones out there that go away with the emission junk.

Stay away from the 6.0s. Look for a 7.3, a very proven motor. I, myself have a '97 OBS 7.3.

The 6.0 was an interm motor as well as the 6.4 is going to be. Ford is coming out with their 6.7 Scorpion motor out in 2011. Rumors have it that it will 400HP and 700 Ft Lb torque. The Ford and International partner ship went sour after the 6.0s problems and few other disputes between the two.

This good advice, the DPF has to go to get the best mileage.

Ford does not own Cummins.

As usual, a 7.3 guy shows up running the 6.0 in the dirt. I've never had a bit of trouble with mine, but I bet there's a spare cam position sensor in your glovebox ain't there?

I've owned 4 PS a 97 f250, 00 dually, 03 dually with a 6.0 traded the piece of shit in on a 15k mile 01 f550 went back to the 7.3 sure you keep a cam sensor in the glovebox. IMO a small price to pay for a truck that get 16mpg.
