i know that some say on a ls1 to put ls7 lifters in them when replacing them is it the same for the 5.3 to use the ls7 lifters? is that the best cheapest way to go for a normal DD truck?

also the motor in my truck is a 4.8 with 165k on it and i have a 5.3 in the garage with i think a little less miles on it, would it be a bad idea to put the 5.3 in the truck while the heads are off for the little extra motor or is it not worth it?

The "LS7" lifter is the GM replacement lifter for all LS engines. All the LS1 and LS2 lifter part numbers have been replaced with the "LS7" lifter part number.

The PCM will need to be recalibrated if you do the swap. Bad idea? Nah, it's a pretty good one to be honest.
