People generally shy away from tall decks because of the clearance problems they can create and because of the different intake and distributor that they take.
You can go 522 at least.

496 is a good budget combo and they make tall deck intakes now that take a stock length distributor.header clearence can be an issue sometimes under the floor pans .

My thoughts +125'' in the bore & a 4.25'' arm for a well proven reliable 511CI More, sure but, possible reliability & fitment issues

i have heard 535ci my brother just built a 427 tall deck 60 over with 4.375stroke=510ci. 1050carb,13.8cp,rhs360 heads ported big soild roller cam dynoed 910hp at 7500rpm on vp112 .if i were u i would not bore out to max just in case some thing happens. ENGINE MATH =CID= BORE X BORE X STROKE X 0.7854 X NUMBER OF CYLINDERS hope this helps

I have a 427 tall deck worked up to a 525. .060 overbore and a 4.5 stroke with 6.700 steel rods. The custom pistons were pricey though. I didnt have to do anymore grinding than I have to do with oem short decks with 4.25 stroke and aluminum rods. A standard Milodon pan for a 69 Camaro fits too. Its a pump gas motor I built for the street.

Hey Vengnce, do you mind giving up anymore of your combo? Thinking of doing something similar for a streetcar. Like CR, heads, cam, and any dyno #'s you might have. The pistons, who did them, price, are they made for some spray?

I had JE make the pistons for spray, cost 950 bucks. This was the most expensive part of the short block. 11.5:1 compression. cam is a 262/270 714lift 114lsa Heads are Brodix BB2 plus with some hand porting. K-motion K950 springs. Edelbrock victor TD/1050 dominator tuned for the street.
No track passes and its never been dynoed.
I sold the car I built it for.

I'm not sure how big the bore can go without checking the cylinder walls for thickness, but I have a 527 tall deck, 4.320" bore x 4.5" stroke, 6.7" rod, 2x4 alky on a tunnel ram, 'glide with 4.30 rear end, best pass 8.97 at 148, 3070lb truck.
