Hello ladies and gentlemen. I'd like to share the latest build for my NETO/N Pro-street bracket car...

•Long block assembly by Big Sal's Racing Engines
•Dyno tuning at Bison Engine and Machine
•427 .030 over (434 cu in) Small Block Chevy
•4.155 bore x 4.000 stroke
•11:1 compression
•Dart SHP block
•Callies crank
•Scat H-beam rods
•CP Carillo Bullet pistons
•AFR 245 NPP heads 70cc
•Custom grind .680/.672, 256/264, 108, solid roller cam with 4/7 swap
•Morel Ultra Pro lifters
•T&D 1.6 shaft rockers
•Comp Cams billet double roller timing chain
•Edelbrock 2892 Super Victor II intake manifold
•Wilson Manifolds 1" tapered spacer
•Holley Ultra XP 850
•MSD Pro Billet distributor
•Timing @ 35

•Horsepower: 667 @ 6500 rpm
•Torque: 617 @ 4900 rpm

We tried three different carbs with multiple spacers. A custom built 1000 cfm, a Quick Fuel Q-950, and a Holley Ultra XP 850. In the end, the 850 made the most power. The best pull by the 1000 cfm, built by an experienced carb guy, who was present and tuning it for this engine, was 654 hp @ 6400, and 613 lb-ft @ 5000.

Did you try it without the spacer? And what size are those headers? Just wondering.
We never tried it without a spacer, but did try multiple spacers with each carb.

Those are 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 stepped primaries.

Chopper, what was all done to heads/intake? Headers might be a bit small too from our experience. Back 20 yrs ago (before my time) shop did a pump gas 406 11-1 track 1 heads (227ish cc) Vic jr and streetish style solid roller that made 653Hp @ 6700 nitrous motor (spaying 300+) Used 1150 Pro Systems 4500 and 1 7/8 step to 2" headers.

Manley valve spring upgrade on the heads, minor port matching on the intake. The heads are competition ported at AFR. The dyno headers were 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 stepped primaries. In the car I've got 1 7/8" x 29" primaries to 3 1/2" x 10" collectors with turn downs for the track.

I had new headers made on my car. Went from 1 3/4" to 1 7/8 to 2". Picked up .12 in the 1/8th.

Seems like excellent power. Especially when you consider relatively low compression( especially by today’s standards) and look at peak rpm. 6500 rpm that engine will live for years. Im a ford nut but i see no reason I wouldn’t like that street performer. Good work.

That should be fun! My 12.5:1 400" sbc made pretty much the exact same HP & torque numbers, but at with a little more RPM and needs VP C12. My cam specs are pretty similar but I've got the AFR 220 competition ported heads and an old Brodix manifold that has a lot of work done to it. Looks like a cool ride!

Very nice. I'd like to do a high compression 406" sbc with those same heads for my next build.

Nice build.
I did a pump gas 434 years ago with afr 235 heads
10.9 compression
28 degrees of timing
264-272 @624 654 lift on a 109 lobe sep
Afr 235 heads 70cc Harland sharp roller rockers
2925 intake
Prosystems 1000 cfm 4150 carb
1 7/8 headers
4000 stall 10 inch ptc nitrous converter
4.11 gears
28x10 slicks
10.16 @ 132 1/4
6.39 @ 110 1/8
1.43 60ft off the footbrake
Weight was 3400#s
Plugs was lean I never got around to jetting the carb and playing with the timing
I figured it made 650hp or so.
