We just built a 421 and with the Callies rose we only needed a 1.000 base circle and we ended up with about .048 cam to rod clearance.

Who's rods are you using???

You need about 610hp in good weather to run 6.25 at that weight. If those heads have had decent work, it should easily be 675+ with a decent cam. I would shoot for around 266/278 with .700" net lift. My old 422 with ported Pro-1 215's went 6.35 at 3560ish. That motor was 12.45:1. Shave off 460lbs and your WAY beyond 6.25's.

That's pretty much what I was thinking too. With a good n/a converter and a cam close to what you mentioned he should make the 6.20's with ease.

With that mouch compression I'd sure like to see a little more duration than 266. I was thinking more like 276/284 on a 110 and shoot for .700 net lift which is still doable with a common 1.6 rocker though a 1.7 rocker would be better on the lifters.

Ditch the stump puller gears and put some 4.11's in it. I wouldn't go near that gear even with a glide. I've got a similar combo with less compression and probably not near the head and have been 6.35 with more in it(carb way off). Only a 4.00 gear and 29.5" tires. 1.33 60ft off the footbrake.
