As I understand, their limit even with a girdle and forged internals is 550hp. Even at 520hp, I have seen them eventually split in half after two seasons.
It will hold a little more. But when it goes it will go big. RPM is the big killer with em.
This ^^^Guess I'll try her out and diaper it up.
I"ve said it time and time again, it all depends on how many mexicans you can squeeze in there. Is it an illegal block or does it have papers??
Illegal. Can not run any aftermarket block be it Ford or Chevy. It has to be a passenger car or truck block. A boss block is just an aftermarket block made by the factory just like the bow tie blocks are.BUY A NEW BOSS BLOCK ....... DON'T WASTE ALL UR internal or your car..When I bottom END COMES OUT OF THE BLOCK AN OIL'S DOWN THE TRACK ...just my opinion .
or give the 8.2 way less weigth than 3150lbs and were talking 2800 or lower...Were talking about where they can have a chance to compete against 351w or SBC,BBF,and BBC without killing the block.I too like to use what I already have laying around in the house.Build a 351 and be done. Or BB.
At 640 + HP and that block you will have "rod windows" very quickly.I have a 302 based engine. It is a mexican block. I have a main girdle on it and forged internals. I know of the limitations of a stock standard 302 block but whats the limit with this combination? I was wanting to run 8.5 limited and already knew I was taking a knife to a gunfight but If I can keep from scattering parts everywhere that would be great. The engine dynoed at 640hp before the heads were ported so is it tapped out or can I spray a little bit? Thanks for any help.
Good advice.Build a 351 and be done. Or BB.
