1000 ft was a good 1st step. Thje retarders make the engines blow up it is very hard on them when the cylinders load up and kaboom. You know how much fuel goes through one of those with a 100 gallon pump!!!!

Dropping the compression will only do so much these guys have stacks of gaskets in 2-3 thousandths increments. Alan johnson said the last 300 feet are the worst were the damage is concerned. From years past the fuel guys ate alot of motors in denver yesterday and today so far it has been minimal. You notice laot of them were only using 1 chute? vs 2.

According to tony pedregon today most teams arent on the rev limiters. And they still blow up.

Sure they are, they all run 3.20:1 ratio with the very same tire size. They are all going to be close in RPM. The rev limiter/retarder has been the problem for years. T-Ped can say what he wants, maybe he has a different agenda, but the fact remains that the top crew chiefs have been bellyaching about the rev limiter for years now. Look at the qualifying times, when was the last time you had this close of a spread in the fuel classes?

At first I was pissed about 1000'. But after wathcing it and seeing how it leveled the playing field, I am all for it.

Kudos NHRA. I am for the 1000' deal now.
Thanks, i wasnt aware that you know more about tonys car then he does.
