3.75 and 320mph in 1000'?

As I was watching qualifying off and on last night I think I caught a quick deal that showed the quickest ET to a 1000' for a TF/D was 3.75 back a couple of years ago and heard them say that Allen Johnson said according to his computer in optimum conditions they had went 320 mph to 1000' before. Not sure what it was in T/FC but I dont think 1000' is going to slow them down as much as some people think it is once they tweak the tuneups some in better conditions than they had on the mountain.

Think it had more to do with the extra 320 feet and not reving the engine so high. Less chance of an engine failure and a longer shut down.

They are going to rev them just as high, in a quicker amount of time, and go as fast as possible in 1000ft. That means they will still be blowing up engines.

finally! someone has a brain:partyman:

Exactly. I don't think NHRA was thinking of that when they rushed into the decision to go 1000'
i agree, nhra rushed into this too fast. in good conditions they will still go 320 plus all day long at 1,000 feet. there is still potential for a tragedy at these speeds, work on the shutdown areas nhra!!!

Exactly, they still want to win. Gear change / tune up change. They will be stupid fast at the next race.
I think there is a compression change coming and maybe limit the fuel pump also and it solves all problems.
They always run in good air @ NHRA Maple Grove race. If they don't make a rule change by then you will see some real Fast 1000' passes there!

Yeah and Maple Groves run off is short as hell, then you get to cross the street to the sand
I think the easiest way to slow them down is to cut down the blower speed, and cut back on the nitro mix. That will make the high priced nitro last longer and the pullies can't be that much.
those cars only pick up about 50mph on average in the last 1/8th mile. on their faster runs they do pick up more. they are already going well over 250 at the eighth. racing to 1000' is not the answer.
gear ratio cannot be changed. blower too is also set at 50%. but i do agree with knocking down the blower speed and the compression. dale armstrong agreed with the compression. find the article and read it.
the 1000' is just a crutch for now, i guess they are figureing that they will have something new figured out to slow them down before they get them going 320mph in 1000'. most likely they will be going that fast in another 2 races, but they are still looking. it would be a little rough on the teams to tell them ok next week smaller pump and less compression. Imagine you were racing in nmca super street or something and they said ok next race you have to go from that magnaflow 500 pump, to a holley black pump and run 10:1.that wouldn't be too good

They are anywhere from 270-285 at the 1/8th actually depending on the altitude and weather.
Blower speed alone won"t do squat !!! that"s where the superman blower was derived from.. when ihra came out with a 20 over rule,, the blower guys made blowers that made the same boost at 20 percent as they used to at 30 percent.. with the same overdrive.. perdhome {spell check}breifly mentioned the use of " BILLET" blowers yesteday... I know chuck ford has been produceing these, as well as al bililes, and BME.. I can"t Imagine the cost!!!
1000'

I think the 1000' is more to give them 300' more shut down room than to slow them down. Those guys ALWAYS figure a way around the "obstacles" given by the rule makers, and the rule makers know that.
Did anyone hear tony pedregons comments on Race Day this morning?

He didnt agree with the 1000ft, he said they need to take care of the real problems.
what has IHRA done with their TF/NFC class have they shortened it as well ??
