looking to get a new set of tires.

Was currently using 28x11.5 et street bias plys.

I know the 275's will fit.

But was kinda leaning towards the 255's because they are an inch smaller.

Car makes about 625 flywheel horsepower and has an and automatic with 4:33 gears in the rear.

Will the bigger tire allow better launch because of the contact patch.

Or will the 255's be sufficient.

What is everyones input

What kind of 60's are you cutting with the slicks?

they were on the end of their lives. but they were 1.59 - 1.60's

I ran 10.10s at 133 with 255 mickey radials. 4.10 gears and th350 trans
1.35 60'.

They will work if the car is balanced well and decent rear shocks on a prepped track

If any of those are issues...you'll need to just use the 275 on a 9" wheel.

Well i have a full caltrac set up out back with their 9 way adjustables and their 90/10's up front.

As mentioned above, the car will have to be tuned and set-up right for the smaller tire. What type of racing and how are the tracks prepped?

To be on the safe side, the bigger tire may be the way to go.

bracket racing, test and tune nights tracks are prepped pretty good.

I was 3080 lbs (with me in it). I ran those at 17-18 lbs. I ran Hoosier 275s on 23lbs and and I run et drag slicks now on 22lbs.

I found that they wouldn't always hook on bracket days...so I went to a slick.

Yes...same weather altitude Baro etc exactly...car slowed down .14 in 1/4 mile with et drags from 275s.
