What should I expect to pay for some .223 ammo for just Plinking, anywhere, like Walmart or something? If it matters, I'm in North Central Florida...
Thanx again Gunny.. Are you out right now... Instilling FEAR, into the hearts of the Lawless?
You can probably get some ammo for 20 bucks a box and I am talking top quality stuff. 100 rounds I believe is what the .223 comes in per box.
$9.49 75gr PRVI Great customer service at ATG.You find .223 for $20 per 100, lemme know. I'll max out my credit card buying it up.
Even steel-cased Wolf is going to be $220+ per 1000 rounds, plus shipping. I found a 100 round value pack of Federal (it's got the same specs as their American Eagle .223, but different packaging) at Wal-Mart for $39.99 the other day.
You can find deals online, but expect to pay at least $330 per thousand for anything brass-cased. I recently picked up some PRVI 75gr. match ammo for $9.95 per box of 20. The real good shit - Federal Gold Medal Match - will run you $23-$28 per box of 20.
Stay safe this weekend, Carl.
I've never shot any other 75gr stuff, but just yesterday plinking in the 25-yard indoor range it was grouping .25-.35 inches tighter than 55-grain Remington UMC, through a 16-inch 1:7" AR. So that's what, about 1.0-1.25 inches tighter at 100 yards (theoretical)?$9.49 75gr PRVI Great customer service at ATG.
Picked up 800 rounds I haven't shot it yet. How does it compare to the HORNDAY TAP LEO 75 gr.
Funny, I ran thousands of rounds through 5 different AR's I owned and never had a single problem with it in any of them. I had: Bushy AK Shorty, Bushy V-Match 24", Bushy V-Match 16" and 2 Professional Ordnance Type 97 Carbon 15's.Watch out for the steel-cased Wolf if u a AR-15 i have 5 of them and it wont run in any of them. The case swells up and jams and some them have a coating on them that gums thing up.
