This is all new for me so bare with me. I just bought a Mitler Bros rear diff alignement bar and pucks and want to use it to revive a 12 bolt that I have.

That 12 bolt is just a pumpkin with 3 or so inches of axle tubes on each side. I have just the axle tubes from another 12 bolt (67 Camaro) and here what I want to do.

I'll cut the existing 12 bolt tubes "cleanly" at 2 inches from the pumpkin, then cut the tubes I have so the total lenght is the same as another Camaro 12 bolt I have.

I'll install my Mitler bar and pucks, and weld the "new" tubes to the short protruding tube.

My concern is this: Will there be excessive warping since I'm welding quite far from the end and closer to the pumpkin ? Will my bar (1.5") keep it from warping ? Or worse, will my bar end up being not straight because it will bend ?

Any help/auggestions appreciated.

Frank.

Your correct it won’t work. Your wasting time and money Trying to do it that way. The procedure is to have the tubes in the housing first and then put the ends on the last.
