Have an 02 Chevy Cavalier with a weird problem. About 2 weeks ago, the customer said that his mileage changed from 30K to 6K! Right after that, he said that he had some intermitent no start problems. He brought it in and it had a P1631 code. It has never acted up for us, but the mileage is still at 6K. I've never seen anything like that with the odometer, wasn't sure if the mileage was stored in the BCM or the cluster? He said both things happened at the same time. Kinda thinking there might be a BCM issue...

i know for a fact the mileage is stored in the bcm on cavaliers...changed a few myself.... had a friend replace his under warranty before he traded it in.....

Great! Thanks for the info guys! I will tell him that it is stored in the BCM. Wasn't really sure how they did it on those...
