Default AFR's new BBF cylinder head?

Let me start by saying I have no dog in this fight. I don't have a Big Block Ford, but I'm curious about why this cylinder head could be a game changer. Has anybody tested them yet?

I just read about them in Car Craft. I'm not a ford guy so I know nothing, but they don't look any better than the p51's to my untrained eyes.

That's where I read about them as well. I just got the new Car Craft in the mail today.

Here is a lengthy thread about them. Seems they've been a couple of years in the making. AFR is apparently saying end of this year or beginning of 2015.

It looks like they could be good but, I do not see them leaping past a good set of A460 TFS heads.

Lem what would you like to see from the after market, something between the TFS A and the FMS C or something between the Pro Filer replacement and the Thor?

They have them for the small blocks (P-38 and CHI) maybe the big block will see a set next. New stuff showing up all the time for the big block Ford.

I have an AFR catalog with a lot of specs on most of the configurations. I haven't seen the CC article. They offer 3 intake port volumes, 3 exhaust port heights, and two chamber volumes.

It appears to compete with the entry level heads like D00E-R, A-429, P-51, Blue Thunder, TFS, & Eddy.

I wouldn't think it would be in the A-460 level. Not as tall. Biggest intake runner is 300CC with a 2.300 valve.

What are the valve angles?

They list the intake incline at 14. No listing for the intake cant or exhaust incline and cant.

Something interesting, they are saying you cannot cut the intake spring seat any deeper. They list a std length 5.25 valve for the application. I would have though they would have raised the roof over the turn and use a longer valve.

That's a stock valve angle, I think I like the P-51 better. They were about 315 cc after I ported them and went 430 at .800
