Again, not to argue, but......the border is still there.

We probably did..........IMHO, we don't need to interfere much in the M/E. They have been at war since Biblical times. And we don't need their oil.

Ole - Syria is a shell of it's former status. They can't control cities let alone borders.

With what I know about the Kurds, if the splinter groups ever organized and we provided air cover and arms..........the question would be who would be able to protect Turkey from the Kurds!

Drones can't run POW camps.

My opinion, kick Turkey out of NATO and at least minimally support the Kurds. We've done similar strategies successfully with the Afghans in their conflict with Russia and the Montagnards in Vietnam.

Everybody is worried about the Kurds, they've been fighting for centuries, this is nothing new to them. What I see is a land-grab. Turkey calls it a 'buffer zone', funny how harmless lies hide true intentions at achieve a 'Final Solution'. Erdogan has media worried about tribal conflicts while he slices off a chunk of Syria and nobody says a fukin thing. Oh, the poor Kurds - insert pic of big eyed little girl with natural curly locks escaping a dirty scarf here - while Erdogan grabs however much is generals say they can get. The only thing that poor little girl will see different is that she is now a citizen of another country, as if she knew where she was to begin with.

Do you remember the Gulf War where Turkey wouldn't let U.S. planes pass thru their air space? I'd be happy to see us leave Incirlik AFB, pull all but one nuke out of there and set a timer on the last one as a gentle reminder not to fuk with the U.S. military.

I really dont think it's about how many we have there, it's the fact that they are there. So if 10 of our troops get killed then you have signed your own death certificate and they know this.

I sure do remember that. Turkey also prevented the US 4th ID from deploying into northern Iraq too.

Exactly right.
Turkey has been mostly "non-dependable" for about 20 years. Seems that if they weren't a relatively good arms customer, the U.S. would have walked away from them decades ago. They're not worth putting up with in NATO and darn sure not worth any American soldiers' lives.

* The Kurds - been fighting for centuries and likely will be for centuries more, regardless of what we do.
