Thanks. It saves on the questions and It's helpful to have everything in one spot when I want to double check how something fit together.

Over the hump and going back together.

Picked up a set of nearly new Nexen 275/40/17s for mockup for $40. Getting them mounted today. Once I'm convinced they fit, they'll die a smokey death and be replaced with R888s.

So the tires fit way better than expected. Yes they are wider than recommended for an 8.5" wheel, but I'll take the extra rubber any way it comes. I've run 275s on 8" wheels on past cars and they made full tread contact with the track.

100% stock fenders. They will get lightly rolled anyway though.

That moment you realize that you need to buy new coils because everything else is too nice to top with the dirty rusty old ones

Jon,

How about using the Holley valve covers?

Also...

I noticed how you have the pressure gage mounted on the fuel rail. I had previously mounted a remote sending on my LS3 rail in a similar way and I was lucky that I noticed a problem before I set my GTO on fire...

I'll keep an eye on my rail.

The Holley covers are nice but they won't fit the D585 coils that I like using. I just powder coated the stockers and ordered an aluminum bracket. I found a set of new AcDelco coils for $210 shipped so, after selling my old coils, I'll be into it for less than the Holley covers themselves.

Making some small progress.

I've been running a 318 cluster to match the ecu set at half tach output. I also wanted the 7k tach as an 8k with shifting at 6500 was a bit silly. Finally got around to swapping the needles from the M3 cluster.

Also bought fresh new D585 coils with aluminum brackets.

Don't mind me, just pic whoring on through.

I haven't seen these used for charge piping before, but they're too clean not to try. I figure if these have to deal coolant at 16psi for hours on end, they should be able to seal 24+ intermittently. Only doing the pipe sides for now. The intercooler sides and throttle body will still use t bolts.

Don't have much left motor wise. A few odds and ends to connect. Then I need to see how much damage there is to the transmission and add a spray nozzle to lube the cluster gear. If the gears aren't sharp or blued, I'll probably just run it and deal with the whine for awhile.

Probably starting this thing up next weekend. Put the spray fitting in the transmission and got it bolted back into the car.

The gears had some slight discoloration and wear but looked decent overall. Enough that I'm just going to run them and deal with the whine.

It's back up and running. Going to go over a few things to make sure bolts are tight but it fires up with no knocking or leaks. I'll take it. Replaced the driveshaft with an aluminum one while it was apart.

So far so good. 10.9 a/f at 13psi. Plugs say it can use a little more timing. No smoke or bad noises and the oil appears clean.

My daughter is ready to go for drives again.

Great build Jon. Used to love your post on E30tech back in the days. Nice to see your still building great cars. Keep it up.
