You could always sell them to Mike. After all he does own a boat shop and some of his customers may need new boat anchors.

My last interaction with RFD was less than stellar as well. He did a set of 11 degree dart heads for one of my customers. We built the engine and ran it for a couple of seasons and it ended up breaking a valve in the lock groove (after I told him I didn't want hardened tip valves for this specific reason). We sent the heads back to have a chamber fixed and have the heads gone over, again specifying not to use hardened tip valves ( I wanted solid tip valves with lash caps (all titanium)). Get the heads back 6 weeks later than stated with smaller diameter intake valves than when they went and hardened tipped valves again. When contacted about it they didn't want to know anything and I ended up having to fix the issues myself. Never again...

I had RFD do a set of heads for me. 45 cfm down at .600 and they never reached his claimed 390CFM. These were for a Harley. When I received the heads back, the valve train geometry was a mess, and the Pistons he had made were made with not enough valve pocket.

Cost me 2k to get new valves and custom rockers, and have the Pistons measured to proper clearance.

The heads are on his site.

I called to fix this and have never received a return call.
Generally I shy from the public eye. Not a huge proponent of airing dirty laundry. That said, the above is true. Valve stem protrusion was out to lunch, valve notches in pistons weren't deep enough for even a mild cam, rollers rolled off the valve tips, flow was down throughout the test range, never made the peak claimed, guide fitment was set at .002, stock guides no kliners, and he left the exhaust valve stock and used a ti intake on a becube seat, exhaust leaks 4%, static flow is 10cfm better than stock, and I don't think a radius beyond the intake surface has been tightened less 5%, the manifold he asked me to send him was cartridge rolled.

I called several times to ask about the flow numbers (I am not a flow or velocity guy and hate the bench) and a few other times about the VTG. I was told by his man, "we port heads, we don't build heads"; as for flow, I was only curious about test pressure used for my notes. I got laughed at and told "Maybe Curtis will call you back, but I doubt it".

When I initially contacted RFD it was because of his glowing reviews on YB, and because guys that I respect, or seem to know what they're talking about, speak highly of him (probably good ol'boy nonsense). It was a pleasant enough conversation, he asked if I had experience getting to my goal and what sort of flow I thought I'd need to get there. Typically these heads start to shine over 450cfm if you can build a manifold that doesn't choke that down or even adds to the static flow slightly. Again, I don't put any stock in static flow numbers, but that's generally where they fall.

For the record, I don't expect head porters to be nice people. They can be weird, wired, talk gibberish, eccentric, miss delivery dates, or be flat rude. The more off color they are, the more they tend to be good at what they do. I've only met one truly nice person that does good head work in my community.

My Junk from RFD was Fd as well.... Everything from the order getting lost, taking a year to getting the heads completed, then nothing we discussed was correct from machine work to parts incorrectly supplied/custom made for them.

I tried calling and canceling my order after 9 months of nothing to be informed by Curtis himself that once he did receive the castings he would bill me and send me the raw castings.

Had to pay others to correct RFD F ups.

Just another burn I've been delt with from taking YB advise.......
