Amazing pics! I find myself wishing I had lived back then quite a lot. Being able to watch this stuff as it happened is the one thing I wish I had been there for. My uncle raced Top Fuel funny cars in the 70s and raced for years before and after that in Division 4. I've only seen a few pics of him from back then but I always find myself wishing I had been there...

Thanks for the contributions, guys!

My earliest memories of pro stock was in 1980 I was 12 and my dad took me to Central Michigan Dragway. It was a match race with my racing hero Lee Shepherd, Bob Glidden, Andy Marrinaro (sp?) and I think Larry Lombardo in Jenkins Camaro. May have been Joe Lepone someone on here would.know who the driver was in 80's. Lee beat everyone. He was the only one in the 7's that day. It was so cool back then. No high dollar rigs or corporate bs just hardcore racing.

That is awesome. The days when you could walk up to a team and volunteer as a tire wiper or chute man for the day. Silverado trucks with Chaparral trailers were the top tier rigs. Some of the coolest stuff was the IHRA small blocks on N2O running against the mountain motors. I've got a cool Andy Mannarino pic for you once I can post photos.

Many of those photos were taken at Martin Dragway (US131 Motorsports Park now). Unfortunately, I'm too young to have been there at the time.
