Default Salmon & Steelhead in Michigan?

I'm headin out Saturday for my annual fishing trip to the Manistee River and will be on it everyday until October 6th, any fishermen from up that way with a fishing report? I already heard about the Dublin General Store, a crushing blow that.
I'd like some Kings but prefer coho and steelhead, I know its too early for steelhead but any reports on Kings & Coho? I fish the Manistee mostly below Bear Creek and above Rainbow Bend.
Thanks, Oj

My wife and I both loved Salmon fishing , mostly on Lake Huron side of the state . One of my fondest memories was her first salmon , she screamed at me to take the pole but I made her fight it to shore. She was so proud of that fish . Afterwards I never went without her. I will have to think about a trip next year , visit family in Bay City and fish for a couple weeks.

He sure was lucky based on the amount of rocks in that area and the skinny water....

I'd have shit myself when that fish came out of the water 3' trying to shake the hook. I'm scared silly when a 14# steelhead does it, but THAT pig? I'd be thinking how well the knots were tied, when I replaced the line, what weight the hook is and last time it was sharpened and GODDAMN! a he's heading straight for the that stump!
I'd have been a mess, for sure.

I salmon/ steelhead fish here on the pacific coastal rivers, we have two rivers, where we fish for Chinook less than 1/2 mile from the ocean, and they come in on the high tide. and another river where we fish steelhead within 15 miles of the ocean...just above tidewater, .catch fish all the time full of sea lice, can't get any fresher than that ...we fish out of a drift boat. been doing it since the 1950's.....

Well, I made it back from 2 weeks of fishing the Manistee, it was great! The fish were larger this year so I was able to get enough to do can just under 30 pints of salmon, salmon cakes and football on a cold winter day are the tits, vacuum packed another dozen or so fillets. the largest salmon was just over 40" long, I lost a much larger one trying to get it into the net, caught and released a few steelhead, a walleye and an ambitious pike. It rained most of the 2 weeks we were there, the river was very high. I normally fish spawn but boated just 1 fish on spawn, all the others were on lures. I had enough salmon and switched over to steelhead fishing the last few days without luck. I had a great time, saw lots of old friend including the guy in the above picture holding the salmon.
I'm hoping I can arrainge things to get away next month for a week of steelhead fishing, dunno if it'll happen or not.
