My wife has a 2016 turbo 4 banger, I think it makes like 310 horse or so. All spectator killing jokes aside, that car is SUPER tail happy. I would think the GT 350 would be even more so.
Its the traction control that makes them do strange things some times .I got whiplash from my 2014 Mustang GT once from it snapping back straight when I got on it on a left hand turn .
TC is a joke on the earlier 5.0s. I have no idea how that relates to the GT350s though.
On my 13 GT I have spun the tires all the way into 3rd gear with TC on.
The design is tail happy as mentioned already so be prepared for that, don't to hero coming out of a turn. You can make yourself look stupid real quick.
What do you plan on doing with the car? If you plan on tracking it the 15-16 non TP cars are basically untrackable because they lack coolers for the trans and diff. If you're not going to track the car you'd be better off with a LFP PP1 Whipple car for $40k. It would be a blast on the street or carving canyons and destroy a GT350 in a race.
The GT350 is a great fun-toy. Are you going to run it at track days? Drag race? Or just cruise and have fun?
I have a 2019 5.0 GT with the A10 auto trans. I have done T&T at the drag strip and a track day at the sports car track. The car performed well at both.
I recommend driving 18-19 GT's both stick and auto. Price them too. Then compare to the GT350. I think the 350 would be a little better at track days, but the 18-19 GT will perform as well or better in all other uses.
A GT should be cheaper to buy, insure and maintain.
I daily a 2016 GT350 Tech pack. Car has Stainless Works long tubes and a JLT cold air intake and has been tuned. Super fun car that has lots of power but is super simple to drive. I chose the tech pack over the track pack because I don't plan on doing any hard core track days with the car and the heated/cooled seats are more comfortable then the Recaro's. You can't beat the sound of the Gt350 at 8000 rpm. For me the insurance wasn't any more than what a standard Mustang GT would be but YMMV.
I'd be choosing the 350 over the GT because of the flat plane crank alone. It isn't about the power for me, though I'd probably tinker here and there. I don't plan on running much track time with the car, however maybe once or twice a year a few guys get together and rent the F1 track and it might end up there for those days.
Could I build something for cheaper? Sure, I could probably build a short stroked chevy motor for my S10 and rev it to 8k and it would be bad ass. But I just don't have time for another project. I've had a foxbody in my garage for 15 years that I haven't finished yet.
Just throwing this out there. Evergreen Subaru Auburn, Maine has a 2015 GT Cobra with 119000 miles for $25000. Supercharger with a beefed up transmission. May of been beat on some.
As previously mentioned, tech pack can't be used on road courses.
Car is still earning accolades as a fun to drive vehicle.
I like driving mine. Although if you get one, I'd seriously consider trying a HPDE, you might really like that and it allows the car to shine, again provided you get a track pack.
2017 and up have the track pack stuff standard, no longer an either or scenario.
Cool car and tons of fun to drive, sounds amazing as well. Being a Shelby it will always be worth more than a GT, if it was me I’d get one without stripes, run the wider R repro wheels, corsa catback and call it a day.

If you aren't worried about power then the GT350 is for you. I have ran into my fair share of them out at the rolls and they are pretty slow. If I had to guess, most people aren't willing to mod them. That is fine if you want to keep it basically stock but you will get outran by simple bolt-on and tune GTs and Gen6 Camaros.
if youre looking for a power house its not the car for you. if you like ripping through winding roads then you will enjoy it.
my buddy just had to have the engine in his 2017 replaced at 5k miles. it ate the bearings and started knocking. from what he found online its not exactly a freak incident either.
I have a friend with one. It's his wife's fun daily driver for nice weather. He said it out preforms his Ford gt's
