Default Holley Dominator, 2nd box vs V2 box

Is there any differences of any concern between the two boxes?

Mine is the "original" but updated from the original with the LS coil issues fixed...

Its still un-used in the box, so if this new box is going to be the box of the future and the future updates will only correspond to one or other, I'll unload this one. Tried to PM Doug, but is PM box is full...

Thanks.

This is confusing. What's the "original" ECU and how was an ECU updated with the "LS coil issue" fix?

in the beggining. the Hp and DOminator units had issue with LS coils and big boost.... There was even a warning in the box when you opened it up, they fixed it, i returned my HP box and upgraded to the dominator thats not supposed to have the issue. NOW, they have a "V2" box....

Original HP/Dominator "box 1"- Coil voltage backfeed issue, or whatever
"box2"- Coil and voltage issue or whatever the issue was is now resolved
"V2 box"- ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??

V2 is an ECU firmware/software update...same ECU internals (since the initial LS coil compatibility changes).
The newest ECUs have Magnetic Crank/Cam Input Filtering capability (Revision Level "J" ECU), but that's another matter.

I understand that software... There are new boxes with "V2" on the main sticker on the front, I called to ask what that was all about.. I got

"they have a new board" and the guy couldnt tell me why or what the differences were, thats what im trying to figure out....

The future updates and the LS coil compatibility fix, does apply to your ECU. So I don't see any reason for concern.

Ok. Thank you. Thats what I was concerned about.. Start seeing new Dominator boxes floating around with V2 right on the front of them now on the main sticker and got me thinking they made change that made mine obsolete. Its been in a box for a long time, switched chassis umteen million times and finally getting ready to fire it up... Didnt want to be out dated already lol

we have been hoping and waiting for a true dual fuel setup and allowing the base and secondary sets to be controlled individually... Didnt want that to happen in the future and my box not be able to support such a change

This is somewhat difficult, and the terminology is not the greatest, but I'll break it down the best way I can.
The original box you had (HP) had the flyback voltage issue. For clarification we shall call this Gen1
A deal on the Dominator was reached - Revised shielding internally - IE Gen 2
V2 is just a sticker that displayed the ecu was shipped with V2 software/firmare - Same as the Gen 2 ECU you currently have.
Current production ecu's are still V2 equipped but carry an internal revision (J board) - We will call this Gen 3. As for specifics, I'm not at liberty to say about the hardware changes. As far as your concerns, run the box you have. The J board ecu's have the magnetic crank/cam filtering, but this really doesn't apply to your application as Danny pointed out.

I labeled those as Gen1, Gen 2, Gen 3. That is not the proper terminology, however it should make things a little easier to understand.
