I decided to give drag racing a try this year after racing motorcyles , and dirt track cars for, oh, the last 30 yrs or so. So in order to do this I had to build a car. I like ford, initially wanted a fox, but this intreaged me, so I end up with it.
Its an 84 RX7 with a 347 ford. Dyamic C4 W/ Brake. Ford 8.8 rear end, coil overs w/ a torque arm. I weighed the car a couple weeks ago and its 2280lbs. I did all the work myself, other than the motor. I sit at a desk by day, so spending my evenings / weekend in the
shop is like a reward.

Thanks.
Here's the tq arm. Its made by the one guy who builds a lot of rx drag parts. I've seen his car somewhere on here, not a current thread. It mounts to the trans tunnel via a shackle. It was a little pricey and he build quality was sub-par. I also added a flange where the two top fasteners are (bolts to my explorer 8.8 rear end). I can add a pic of the shakle type mount to the tunnel when I get a pic. Would I buy it again. Probably, cause it seems to work quite well. I just wasn't impressed with the time in took to ship and the quality. However, its not like you have a 1/2 dozen choices for these in the summit catalog... any other ?s feel free to ask.

This last summer. fixed some of the body. and added a carb scoop. paint the front in jd blitz black until someday when the whole thing gets redone.
I've been 10.251 all motor. and 10.050 on a 50 shot. Biggest improvement came when I added Viking double adj shocks about mid year.
cars been a lot of fun. going to run it as is one more year (2018) then work on some bigger power.

That's excellent! Love that shape RX7. Even better with a SBF. Knocking on 9s. Good luck with it.

What rear end setup is that? Looks like the Granny's kit...but he told me that they aren't making them anymore since they took so much time :(
If you setup yours on your own, would you mind taking some pics from underneath? Thanks!

yes it's granny's but also modified. I wrote about it in above post but photos got erased with photo bucket.
I'll try to get some more someday.
I might start building the tq arms myself, but that would be a ways out.

A buddy of mine had a pretty healthy 347 in a full weight street RX7 with the granny kit and it had all OEM suspension with the exception of the lower control arms being boxed. Ran 10.60s at 125 He moved out of state shortly after a tree fell on the car and smashed the roof. I have the Granny kit for sale if anyone is interested with rad, driveshaft and shorty headers.

What front rotors/spindles? Buddy has one with a 5.3 in it. The 5.3 was in my car for a few races and ran 6.13. His car is about 500lbs lighter. He is still getting used to driving it. The brakes are a manual set up, and he says they don't hold well. So far his best time is a 6.64, but hes getting used to it and picking up every pass. Hes made 6 passes in it so far.
