I am new to this forum and need help. I have a vehicle that I am wiring from scratch. I am using a trailer wiring adapter to get the function of a 2 stage led turn/brake/tail light to function for all. According to the Hopkins converter #48845- 5 wires (R, Br, G, Y, W) go to vehicle harness and 4 wires (Br, G, Y, W) go to lights.
W=ground
Red=brake
G=r turn
Y=L turn
Br=park/tail
Tried this and it doesn't work. Brake lights work and tail lights. But blinkers make both sides flash. 1 brightly 1 dim and likewise oposite when blinker is switched to other side. When I took adapter completely off the car and tested it with test light, I found that if power is applied to the red wire, power goes through green and yellow wires ON THE SAME SIDE OF THE ADAPTER but not on oposite side as I would think it should. If you put power on harness side of either yellow or green, power does not transfer to trailer side of adapter. If applied to the trailer side, it does transfer to the harness side. I'm assuming there are diodes in this thing making it work. Is it possible that this thing is built backwards or am I doing something wrong. I am not an electrician but I have stayed in a Holiday Inn before.
Please help.

All this bull shit and you don't even bother posting the VEHICLE MODEL MAKE AND YEAR????????????

My old 98 Ranger has amber turn, and separate stop and tail. BUT THE TRUCK has a built in "adapter" right in the factory harness. All you need is the factory harness adapter......plugs right in.........and you are done

The previous owner, like you, DID NOT KNOW THAT and bought a Valley adapter and hashed it in there with those God Dammned Mother Fucking Skotchloks, which should be ILLEGAL under FEDERAL LAW

THESE putrid things

This is how I wired my exocet. Four relays. Piece of cake, works great, no adapter needed.

Check out this website. Sounds like the Right and Left turns are linked at the point that meets us with the brake. This should fix that.
