Cool ABANDONED DRAG STRIPS......With Photos

I though it would be neat to share with you guys some abandoned drag strips that another person has put together. I am not certain how accurate these are but I think they are cool. I have a few to post and will post them as I get time...

This guy tries to find them and take current photos..

(If you know of anymore let me know)

Here is the first one Motorcity Dragway near Detroit 1957-1978

There is an old dragstrip near me that was called Mountian View Dragway. It was located in Wind Gap PA and was nickname "the sticks". Once a year the owner opens it up for a car show. I have searched for old pics of this strip but havent found any. Maybe someone on here has some?

Here are 2 that were in my area. The one started out as Meander Dragway in the 60's, and later became Youngstown Drag City. The other is Nu-Be Dragway that was located outside New Bethlehem, PA.

On Long Island there used to be New York National Speedway. I don't have any pictures but the timing tower still stands. They were to build a complete retirement home but only ended up building a couple homes.

Also on Long Island is Westhampton, the people who lived out there were upset at the noise on the weekends. They were going to build a community of condos or something like that, they didn't end up building a whole lot of them either.
Here are some pictures from Google Earth:

As you can see at Westhampton they still have the snack stand to the left and the timing trailer (bikers burned down the tower years ago for not getting paid I think) to the right.

Last I heard they tore the track up so people couldn't race on it.

Mostly poor MGT was the cause of its death - Noise was secondary

I drove past last summer.

There are houses in single file in a perfectly straight line where the pits were.
